SUMMARY:

The Staff Writer will report and write on a wide variety of subjects related to the New England Revolution, contributing written content for the New England Revolution digital properties including the club website and all social channels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Write editorial content for Revolution digital assets, primarily revolutionsoccer.net
  2. Interview Revolution players, coaching staff, and key members of the organization in a variety of settings including one-on-one interviews, press conferences and standard media access
  3. Manage the Revolution's historical calendar to track potential storylines related to club history or current events
  4. Maintain the Revolution's feed of written content on Apple News
  5. Occasionally appear as a Revolution expert on radio appearances, podcasts, etc.
  6. Support the Revolution season schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and occasional travel during the season
  7. Special projects and assignments as business dictates



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3 - 5 years prior experience in a similar writing, reporting or journalism role
  • Excellent interviewing and public speaking skills
  • Exceptional writing, research, and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of the New England Revolution, Major League Soccer, and international soccer
  • Working knowledge of social media and digital trends
  • Excellent command of the English language, especially the rules of syntax, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to break down complex concepts so they are easily understood by the intended audience
  • Excellent time management and the ability to stick to deadlines
  • Good observation skills and attention to detail
