The Opportunity:

Join our dynamic Landscape team as a Landscape Architect at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In this role, you will oversee the review and development of landscape planning deliverables and designs across UCF campuses. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all landscape architecture projects adhere to UCF's standards for quality, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal.

Responsibilities:



  • Assess and critique landscape designs and plans for UCF campuses, ensuring alignment with established standards and guidelines. Provide constructive feedback to internal stakeholders and external design teams to enhance project proposals and deliverables.

  • Work closely with internal departments and external clients to review project proposals, ensuring they meet UCF's functional and aesthetic requirements. Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders to achieve consensus on project objectives.

  • Create and maintain plant palettes and standard documents that reflect industry best practices and align with UCF's Landscape Master Plan. Ensure consistency and appropriateness of plant selections across campus environments.

  • Participate in pre-design and construction (PDC) meetings to verify that landscape plans conform to UCF's standards and specifications. Collaborate with architects, project managers, engineers, and other team members to integrate landscape designs into broader project frameworks.

  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce detailed site plans, renderings, and graphical representations of proposed landscape designs. Present visual materials to stakeholders and decision-makers to facilitate project approvals and modifications.

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for landscape projects and monitor contractor compliance with UCF's standards during project implementation. Ensure designs meet budgetary constraints while maintaining quality and sustainability goals.

  • Evaluate environmental factors and regulatory restrictions to inform landscape design decisions. Integrate green infrastructure and sustainable landscaping techniques to enhance campus resilience and environmental stewardship.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree in landscape architecture, horticulture or land planning and Licensed Landscape Architect (PLA).

  • 5+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, with a proven track record in managing and executing large-scale or complex landscape projects.

  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, as well as landscape design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp).

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other digital design and analysis tools.

  • Robust background in creating and implementing plant palettes, sustainable landscape designs, and green infrastructure solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including experience with project budgeting, cost estimation, and contractor coordination.

  • Proven experience working effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers.

  • Exhibited creativity in design and a strong aesthetic sense, with the ability to develop visually appealing and functional landscape solutions.

  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to landscape architecture and environmental standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting design concepts and project updates to stakeholders, clients, and decision-makers.

  • Outstanding analytical skills to assess environmental factors, evaluate project requirements, and develop innovative and practical design solutions.

  • Commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship, with experience integrating green infrastructure and low-impact development techniques into landscape designs.
