Overview

Buildings & General Service (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting and unique opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II within the Operations & Management Division.This position will be responsible for the daily custodial duties in state facilities at the Costello Court House in Burlington, as well as part of a team that performs these duties in other state facilities in the area. Travel between these facilities may be required and will utilize a state owned and/or a privately owned vehicle. This position requires successful completion of multiple background checks.

This is a full-time position and the hours are Monday through Friday, 4am to 12:30pm.

BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their mission. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.

OR

One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
