Senior Director AWM Market Development

The Senior Director of AWM Market Development is a strategic role focused on expanding market opportunities and managing commercial relationships with key opinion leaders for Smith+Nephew's Advanced Wound Management portfolio. In this role, you will identify new market segments and opportunities for growth while integrating with key commercial, clinical, market access, and professional relations teams to support overall brand strategies. The role requires a blend of market development expertise and relationship management to enhance influence and market penetration.

What will you be doing?

  • Market Development: Identify and develop a roadmap of new market opportunities to expand product reach and increase market share across the key portfolio brands. Analyze market trends and customer needs to propose viable growth strategies.
  • KOL Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, utilizing their insights and influence to enhance product adoption and market penetration.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Forge strategic alliances with industry partners to co-develop marketing campaigns and educational initiatives, enhancing brand visibility and market reach.
  • Brand Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Medical Education, Professional Relations, Market Access, Medical Science and Compliance organizations to understand and execute the strategic initiatives of our organization.
  • Integrated KOL Planning: Lead the development and implementation of a KOL identification and management process to establish strategies for using KOL engagements & gap analysis, professional society partnership, and clinical marketing programs to support key AWM growth objectives.
  • Sales Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to translate market development strategies into actionable sales tactics and goals, ensuring alignment with the broader sales objectives.
  • Training and Development: Support the development and implementation of training programs for internal teams and external KOLs to foster deep product knowledge and effective market strategies.
  • Advisory & Market Research: Coordinate with key business segment leaders to define advisory board strategies and help drive advisory board member identification and engagement.

What will you need to be successful?:

  • Education: BA/BS required, Marketing or related field preferred. MBA is highly desirable.
  • 12+ years of marketing experience, including significant experience in market development and managing KOL relationships within the healthcare or medical device sectors.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership skills, relationship management capabilities, deep understanding of market dynamics, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex organizational structure. Demonstrated experiences leading projects, managing ambiguous situations, executing matrixed plans, and building followership for initiatives. Robust marketing capabilities and strong understanding of clinical activation channels.
