The Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for the GAAP accounting and financial reporting functions of the Company. This individual develops and reviews policies and procedures, manages the general ledger, writes technical accounting memos, and supports the finance team with new business initiatives. The role requires a detail-oriented problem solver with strong technical skills who works well in a deadline-driven environment.

Setting: Professional office environment with hybrid and flexible schedule options available.

Responsibilities



  • Lead and review monthly close processes (including key schedules, journal entries, and account reconciliation) including technical accounting areas (e.g., debt, revenue recognition, and share-based compensation).
  • Lead the implementation and creation of accounting policies under US GAAP, including new guidance, and provide recommendations on internal controls.
  • Oversee the purchase accounting, valuation and accounting integration of newly acquired entities.
  • Implement and lead the process for pro forma and standalone financial reporting for acquired entities to comply with US GAAP.
  • Analyze, assess, and document the impact of relevant technical guidance on the Company's operations and transactions, including accounting policies and disclosures.
  • Lead and perform accounting research and act as an advisor to the business for the accounting implications of both ongoing and nonrecurring transactions.
  • Support new business initiatives and ad hoc projects, including the implementation of a new GL system.
  • Support external audit request process as applicable.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality over financial information and data.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related field is required. CPA or public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Seven or more years in an accounting, auditing or finance role, preferably with significant exposure to revenue recognition, acquisitions, and GAAP reporting processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail with a bias for accuracy.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Effective written communication, primarily through e-mail, and verbal communication with external contacts and internal customers.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and work independently.
