JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg is currently accepting applications for a Part Time Manager for the Harrisburg LaunchBox. The Harrisburg LaunchBox powered by Penn State is a part of the Invent Penn State (IPS) LaunchBox and Innovation network and supports innovation and entrepreneurship with students, staff and the community in the greater Harrisburg region.

Job Duties The primary role of this opening is to assist with running Harrisburg LaunchBox programs by:
  • Planning and implementing a range of programs and events within the Harrisburg LaunchBox portfolio. These can include but are not limited to, Startup Weekend, Student Startup Showcase, Veteran's Business Bootcamp, Idea TestLab and other workshops, and events.
  • Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among the student body through activities aimed at engaging students in the ENTI minor and other entrepreneurial activities.
  • Engage in 1:1 business coaching with students, faculty and community members
  • Promote entrepreneurship events with Harrisburg LaunchBox innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem partners across social media platforms
  • Creating marketing materials and assisting with event logistics for Harrisburg LaunchBox events
  • Working with the director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to:
    • Increase visibility of its programs on campus and in the community.
    • Coordinate workshops and training programs for entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses.
    • Manage data tracking and annual reporting including activities and budgeting.

This will be accomplished through community-facing business and education programs and collaborative projects between the Harrisburg LaunchBox and local organizations. These collaborations may lead to potential internships and employment opportunities for students, successful business startups as well as potential corporate training opportunities for business partners.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have prior experience with startups, innovation and entrepreneurship and knowledge of the economic and workforce development ecosystem.
  • This opening must be able to provide project management for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the region by engaging students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  • Interested candidates must possess a willingness to collaborate on a regular basis and may include grant writing, fundraising efforts, understanding current issues driving innovation and technology, have a broad understanding of the mission of higher education, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit that enhances the vision and success of the Harrisburg LaunchBox.
  • Experience working with a diverse audience and engaging and supporting DEIB work is highly desirable.

A typical schedule for this opening includes primarilyday, someeveningandweekendhours depending upon appointments and programming.

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in business development or entrepreneurship.
  • Anticipate 15 hours per week.
