Location:

The successful candidate will be expected to work in a hybrid status of reporting to any Consumers Energy Service Center every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with home office flexibility on Wednesday and Friday.

We are looking for: Senior Data Scientist

The Senior Data Scientist will analyze large and complex datasets and lead support for the data output process. They are responsible for developing and maintaining data models and tools to support business needs. The incumbent will work with the business to establish requirements and data requests for analytical strategic projects. They should have an active understanding of the business needs of organizations and the ability to solve complex business problems by generating actionable insights using various methods.




  • Ability to compile, clean, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results concisely
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Knowledge and understanding of data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data engineering
  • Process management skills
  • Project management knowledge, ability to identify the project/business requirements
  • Strong acumen in quantitative analytics and structured problem solving



We encourage you to apply if you have:



  • Associate's degree in data science, information technology, data analysis, or related field with four (4) or more years of applicable experience


  • [OR] High School Diploma with six (6) or more years of applicable experience



  • Experience in data science, statistical analysis and modelling data using leading Artificial Intelligence and big data tools (e.g. TensorFlow, Python, Azure SQL Server & ML Studio, Databricks, Power BI, etc.)
  • In depth experience in data analyst, data modeling and understanding business needs



Preferred skills:



  • Bachelors Degree and/or Masters Degree
  • Certified Analytics Professional Certification



In this role, you will:



  • Communicate data science outputs and support the creation of models and solutions that provide insights for the business to interpret and execute successfully
  • Lead and conduct complex analytics initiatives from ideation through production and adoption by using models and have an understanding of the life cycle of an analytics initiative and the common pitfalls
  • Prioritize business initiatives and structure projects for optimum success taking into consideration budget, head count, and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling data resources/processes to achieve complex project/program objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints by extracting data from primary dataset and business tools
  • Build advanced analytical models utilizing statistical and machine learning knowledge
  • Work with subject matter experts to build domain knowledge that can be applied to predictive and prescriptive analytics projects
  • Build visualizations to turn data science outputs into digestible and actionable results for business partners
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
