Position Summary:

Oversee all aspects of plant maintenance to ensure all equipment and facilities are operating properly. Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. Maintain documentation related to maintenance tasks.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for troubleshooting/locating and/or repairing defective equipment as expediently as possible to minimize down time.

  • Maintain preventative maintenance program for all equipment.

  • Ensure that safety deficiencies are corrected on a timely basis.

  • Ensure food safety and quality protocols are followed.

  • Ensure all Safety and GMP regulations are always followed.

  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and aprons.

Secondary Functions

  • Attend shop meetings as required.

  • Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area.

  • Responsible for upkeep of facility and utility maintenance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • This position is not supervisory in nature

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and design skills

  • PLC ladder logic programming,

  • Welding experience/training in welding (mig, tig, arc)

  • Pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, pumps, and gearbox repairs

  • Ability to read and/or interpret blueprints or schematics

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills

  • Teamwork, creativity, and problem analysis skills

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced math skills: analysis, statistics, significant data, or number manipulation

  • Basic computer skills including basic programming and setting up system defaults

  • Continuous standing, walking, handling, reaching, feeling, and hearing

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing and the use of repetitive motions of hands/wrists

  • Ability to push up to 300 pounds and pull up to 500 pounds with mechanical assistance, and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds frequently. For items over 50 pounds or awkward items, two or more employees will lift and/or carry using the buddy system.

Minimum qualifications:

The position requires a high school degree or equivalent with some higher education or vocational training specializing in maintenance preferred. Two to four years of practical experience in maintenance field, preferably in high-speed food production setting. Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license preferred.

Working conditions:

  • Extensive close work with heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying in a non-climate-controlled production environment. Subject to continuous walking, standing, repetitive motions including frequent stooping, finger work, grasping, reaching, bending, and climbing of stairs and ladders.

  • Use of and exposure to hazardous materials, high voltage, high pressure steam, hot pipes, heat, humidity, and strong odors.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and performing above ground platform work.

  • The noise level is typically moderate to loud.

  • Mandatory overtime may be required.

  • Alternative Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days per week

    • Front Half Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, every other Wednesday 6am-6:30pm

    • Back Half Days: Every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6am-6:30pm

    • Front Half Nights: Every other Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6pm-6:30am

    • Back Half Nights: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday 6pm-6:30am

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
