The core mission of the Supplier Development Engineer, (SDE) is to interface with suppliers, supplier management, supplier quality, and engineering on all supplier manufacturing/quality problems of the highest scope and complexity. Frequently interacts with internal and external customers, plus suppliers. The SDE can manage engineering drawing changes, supplier notification (SN), supplier deviation request (SR), technical correlation and quality product issues. The SDE will also work to establish new suppliers. Multidisciplined in engineering, applies initiative to research historical part and/or supplier issues. Can project manage long-term issues for resolution. The SDE devises new approaches for problems encountered. Design, manufacturing, special processing, and inspection processes support are only parts of the opportunities to problem solve at Moog.

To be considered for Sr Supplier Development Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the field of engineering or manufacturing with five (5) years related experience or MS/MA degree with four (4) years related experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience with problem solving and quality tools such as Lean (6-Sigma Green/Black Belt), Zero-defects, PPAP, 5-Why, Ishikawa, RCCA, 8D, or DMAIC.
  • Specialist technical experience, examples metallurgy, industrial chemistry, processing knowledge, metrology, gears, GD&T, machining, electrical components.
  • Experience with supplier improvement efforts, with organization, seeking input for best practices using customer communication and management.
  • AS9100 experience or other similar quality management systems.

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Supplier Performance:
    • Technical performance improvement: Collaborating with suppliers to drive improvements in product quality, reliability, and performance through technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
    • Process Optimization: Leveraging engineering expertise to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency at supplier facilities.
    • Supplier development: Identifying and developing new suppliers with strong technical capabilities to support Moog's product roadmap.
    • Quality Assurance: Ensuring supplier compliance with Moog's quality standards and industry regulations through technical assessments and reviews.
  • Technical Problem Solving:
    • Complex Problem solving: Leading cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to product design, manufacturing, and supply chain.
    • Technical risk assessment: Assessing technical risks associated with new products, suppliers, and manufacturing processes, and developing mitigation strategies.
    • Design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA): Collaborating with engineering teams to design products that are manufacturable, cost-effective, and reliable.
    • Root cause analysis: Utilizing engineering tools and methodologies to identify the root causes of product failures and supply chain disruptions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Working closely with engineering, procurement, quality, and operations teams to ensure seamless supply chain execution.
    • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement in the supply chain.
    • Sharing best practices and lessons learned with the broader organization.
    • Driving innovation and cost reduction initiatives.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $100,000.00-$140,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
