Works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to fill prescriptions, deliver orders and to perform other pharmacy service duties as required.


Qualifications

License/Certifications:
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) (NHA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

Responsibilities

Accurately and safely prepare and label chemotherapy drugs for administration.
Accurately fill and deliver Omnicell restock lists.
Actively supports the mission, goals and objective of the hospital and pharmacy department
Answers, places and transfers telephone calls in a courteous manner. Identifies self by name and location.
Assist in special projects not requiring clinical decision-making capacity as assigned by department leadership.
Assists in training new staff and helps other areas when needed.
Calculates appropriate medication doses based on patient's age: adult, pediatric, neonate, geriatric and adolescent.
Completes specials projects correctly and on time.
Fill medication orders in an accurate and timely manner, including new or lost doses, floor stock replacement items, unit dose, etc
Perform miscellaneous billing functions, including patient charging and crediting, nursing unit charges, and controlled substance charging through manual entry into the computer, or with bar code reader.
Perform monthly inspection of assigned nursing units and pharmacy area for expired or otherwise unusable drugs, and provide proper storage and accurate inventory.
Prepare IV products using aseptic technique and applying proper labeling; perform non-sterile compounding.
Restock and replace various trays and kits used throughout the facility.
Returns medications to stock and reorder medication if needed.
Safely uses departmental equipment and disposes of waste in the proper containers. Able to locate MSDS Sheets online.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $17.33per hour - $28.07per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
