Description

Join Slipstream as an Energy Solutions Intern to make a difference in the fight against climate change and the inequity of its impacts. This internship is part of our Research and Innovation Team where we study, develop, and test the next generation of energy solutions across multiple sectors of the economy.

The Energy Solutions Intern will support our research projects to quantify carbon and energy impacts of different decarbonization strategies, programs, and approaches.

What you'll do:



  • Help conduct primary and secondary research on residential and commercial decarbonization strategies
  • Assist with analyzing research data, which includes collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data, and applying statistics to a variety of data sources
  • Share your ideas and insights that raise new questions and offer new perspectives on areas of research.
  • Help write reports and develop presentations showing the results of our research


Qualifications

What you'll need:



  • Natural curiosity and interest in learning about new approaches
  • Interest in collaborating with a high-performing, cross-functional team of researchers and analysts.
  • Some experience with research methods and conducting research
  • Willingness to broaden your understanding of the work needed to define and implement the clean energy transition.



We'd like it if you had familiarity with one or more of these. If not, here's what you'll learn:



  • Energy/climate policy analysis experience, including reviewing large datasets and quantifying costs or benefits.
  • Process and analyze data sets, using statistical and data management tools such as R, Stata, Python, MATLAB, or other.



Qualifications



  • Pursuing undergraduate or graduate level standing in policy, energy analysis, economics, engineering or related field
  • Proficiency with basic computer software such as MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communications skills
