Description of Responsibilities and Duties |
Daily Building Assignments
Empty all trash receptacles, sanitize, and replace trash bag. Dust mop and wet mop hard surface floors daily. Dust vertical and horizontal surfaces (furniture and chair rails, blinds, air vents, window sills, and ledges). Vacuum carpeted floors and spot clean and vacuum and/or brush upholstered furniture, spot wipe with clean cloth to remove soil. Clean elevator walls, thresholds, flat surfaces, and panels. Wipe light switches, door knobs, water fountains, and kick plates.
Daily Bathroom Assignment
Sweep and mop floors daily and disinfect all surfaces (vertical and horizontal and fixtures, disinfect all dispensers and restock supplies. Disinfect all shower stall surfaces daily and super scrub showers once a week. Clean mirrors and chrome surfaces daily and spot clean walls and doors.
Stairwell and Hallway
Monitor daily for hazardous and clean-up spills and sweep and mop. Dust stairwell ledges and overheads and spot clean walls, handrails, and flat surfaces.
Other Duties
Move furniture for floor cleaning and/or restoration and carpet shampooing as needed. Utilize procedures that increase efficiency and monitor workspace for quality assurance. Keep closet in organized manner and monitor workspace for safety hazards.
Building Perimeter
Sweep entrances and breezeways. Pickup cigarette butts and debris around buildings and adjacent housing areas. Monitor and clean up trash dumpster areas as needed. Remove cobwebs and nests from overheads and entrances and sweep outside window ledges. Clean lint build-up from laundry vents where accessible on exterior of housing facilities.
Equipment Maintenance
Inspect vacuum cleaners for optimum working condition and replace bags when full and report necessary repairs needed. Inspect all equipment before use to utilize all safety precautions. Mix and use housekeeping chemicals per manufacturer's directions. Keep housekeeping closets clean and orderly.
Training Sessions and Seminars
Attend and participate in all departmental training sessions as assigned. Complete all housekeeping specific training as assigned. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training and experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations. |
Preferred Qualifications |
High School Diploma or equivalent. Some experience with housekeeping responsibilities in group setting. |
