We provide end-to-end medical transportation as well as fire services, integrated healthcare solutions and disaster response.

The QA Specialist will support the Revenue Cycle Optimization team by performing quality assurance reviews and providing feedback to the management team regarding compliance with approved PODS and Billing Operations processes and practices. The QA Specialist will provide information and ideas to improve the processes and work within the Department.

  • Ensure compliance with established PODS and Billing Operations processes and guidelines.
  • Conduct individual audits to ensure compliance is met.
  • Maintain a tracking tool to monitor individual error rates, improvements, and trends.
  • Communicate review findings to Department leadership and assist with identifying root cause of problems identified.
  • Run reports, identify trends/issues and communicate needs as required.
  • Adhere to and comply with information systems security. Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered. Report information systems security problems.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understand rules/regulations of Medicare/Medicaid and other government payors as well as commercial insurers and specialty contracts to ensure accurate and timely billing and payment of claims.
  • Know basic medical terminology.
  • Understand HIPAA and other governmental regulations.
  • Use basic accounting skills.
  • Maintain fluency with various tools:
    • Billing systems
    • Spreadsheet, word processing, presentation tools
    • Medicare portals
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Convey thoughts in a well-organized, concise manner, using appropriate grammar and punctuation in written documents.
  • Perform in a consistently organized manner with strong attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Licensing/Certification:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Certified Ambulance Coder certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience with medical billing preferred.
  • Experience related to training and quality assurance functions preferred.
  • Work with computer programs and software required

Work Environment Requirements:

  • High speed internet (no less than 25Mbps)
  • Ability to restrict access to work area
  • Mobile devices and hard copies of records or files containing sensitive information must be physically secured.
  • Flexible working hours available as long as quality and productivity metrics are maintained.
