The opportunity

Job Summary:

Southern New Hampshire University seeks a Student Worker interested in SQL development and data architecture. As an Assistant Analytics Engineer, you will collaborate with analysts and engineers within the Analytics department to support the maintenance of reporting and SQL objects, intra-departmental communications, writing new SQL objects, and reporting and documentation management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review reporting and SQL objects to find irregularities,
  • Evaluation of existing reporting and SQL objects supporting business partners' change requests,
  • Semantic layer support, including data modeling assistance, SQL object modification and development, and documentation tasks,
  • Intra-departmental communication support and process documentation,
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an Undergraduate program at SNHU,
  • Work Study as part of their financial aid package,
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel,
  • Great writing skills,
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and great communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Analytical skills,
  • Familiar with Reporting Tools such as Excel or Power BI,
  • Basic understanding of querying in T-SQL,
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio,
  • Computer Science or Information Technologies related program.

Learning Outcomes/Skills Learned:

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving,
  • Technical writing and process documentation,
  • Communication skills working with staff,
  • Basic understanding of T-SQL development and database architecture,
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio, Erwin Data Modeler, Power BI, and SharePoint.

Work Hours:

Mon-Friday between 8 AM and 4 PM ET for 2 to 4-hour shifts several days a week to work on assigned tasks, the total number of hours per week not to exceed 20.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
