What You'll Do in This Position Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) PIT Production and Operations is looking to hire summer interns for 2025 for the following organizations.
1) Operations
2) Maintenance
3) Media Support
Operations
Maintenance
Develop conventional solutions to technical task objectives within various SRNS facility engineering organizations. Learn SRNS and specific department / facility systems and requirements for accomplishing tasks.
Assist more senior technical personnel in performing related activities in more complex tasks. Perform the following tasks relative to specific facility operations:
Discipline specific ownership and maintenance of the following types of systems among others:
- Nuclear Chemical and Industrial Unit Operations
- Industrial Mechanical systems (Nuclear and Non-nuclear HVAC, Rotating Equipment)
- Instrumentation and Control Systems
- Utilities (Power Distribution, Steam, Water Compressed Gases)
- Civil/Structural (Buildings, Roads, Bridges, Dams)
- Fire Protection Systems
Specific day to day tasks may include:
- Work directly with operations and maintenance
personnel to maintain system operability
- System Configuration Control to include minor design development, component replacement, facility walkdowns, drawing reviews/updates, procedure development/review/approval, preventive maintenance identification
Maintenance
Provide direct or indirect support to the maintenance function through the implementation and administrative control of a variety of maintenance programs, policies and functions. Interface with line management, facility operations, technical support and support functions to verify maintenance activities are performed within technical specifications, manufacturer's
requirements or generally accepted industry practices.
Media
Assist in the design and production of various multimedia programs which may include one or more of the following:
programming, animation, graphics, audio/visual communications in technical, educational, or promotional information systems depending upon the individual assignment. Interpret DOE/WSRC requirements and prepare media comprehensives which meet customer needs, industry practices, and corporate media standards.
The hourly base rate of pay for this internship starts at $18.00, and may increase based on major and class standing. Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Qualifications We Require Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
Must be a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university, or within one year after finishing a degree program.
Must have completed freshman year of college.
Must successfully complete Savannah River Site General Employee Training and substance abuse processing. Other Qualifications Unofficial transcripts are required and must be uploaded into BrassRing before the job posting closes. Qualifications We Desire Operations Intern
