What You'll Do in This Position

Work from standard and special procedures, class schedules, with some direction from more experienced technicians and supervisors.

Perform administrative function such as read and understand all training materials.

Satisfactorily completes all tests.

Perform laboratory training functions such as attend classroom and on-the-job training.

Performs laboratory functions such as hands-on and remote sampling, analysis of solids, liquids, solutions, and sludges which may range from stable to highly radioactive.

Operating and maintaining facilities, equipment and instrumentation associated with chemical, metallurgical or specialized instrumental analysis, remote analytical cell, glove box operation, and environmental sampling and analysis.

Perform lab scale and pilot scale processes as required.

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation and on line analyzers.

Maintain supply inventories.

Remove and properly dispose of radioactive waste.

Train to operate equipment such as mass spectrometers, scanning electron microscopes. May use master-slave manipulators, remote overhead hoists or cranes. May work in ventilated hoods or glove boxes. Use computer to log and report sample results.

May work in radioactive environment requiring the use of protective clothing and respiratory equipment.

May be required to complete Advanced Rad Worker Training (ARWT) and perform task-specific RCI functions.

Other duties as assigned by supervision.

Must be able to work rotating shifts.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require

Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential.

Candidates must have completed ACT WorkKeys Skills Assessment and achieved a minimum score of:
2 in Workplace Observation
3 in Applied Math
3 in Graphic Literacy
4 in Workplace Documents
Test scores must be within the last five years. (Official documentation must be provided to the company for consideration of employment. Results must be uploaded into BrassRing on the ATTACHMENTS page at the time the application is submitted online).

Other Qualifications

Ability to obtain and maintain a Q level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire

Experience in complex industrial or nuclear facility preferred. Experience working with mass spectrometer (MS), calorimeter, and/or performing wet chemistry analysis. College level courses in chemistry and/or mathematics.
