Position Summary: Overall, support the Mission, Vision, and Culture of Shoes for Crews. This position will be responsible for recording and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This includes tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. Other responsibilities include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Perform the processing of monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expense, debt related entries, including leases, setup and monthly maintenance of fixed assets, including deprecation and recording of adjusting and reclassification entries.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations and month end closings.
  • Manage assigned projects by prioritizing work to meet established deadlines and ensuring that accounting objectives are accomplished while keeping the leaders informed of project status and issues identified.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare inventory adjustments and reconciliations.
  • Liaison with external auditors for all compliance requirements.
  • General accounting including GL analysis, GL support and Journal Entry preparation.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure ensuring that policies and procedures conform with GAAP Principles.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with department co-workers and internal customers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and field partners.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



  • Assist in the timely preparation of all financial reporting requirements of the company.
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and analysis of P&L accounts providing explanations for variances against budgets and prior year.
  • Work closely with external auditors and coordinate interaction with all departments.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. This includes interaction with foreign entities for global consolidation.
  • Assist the operations departments with inventory management.
  • Interface inter-departmentally across the company to verify transaction data and resolve issues.
  • Respond to inquiries from senior management regarding financial results, including ad hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with various projects within the Finance and Accounting department, e.g. Chart of accounts conversions, G/L implementation, warehouse transfers, POS systems maintenance, etc.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, high level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Combination of public accounting and corporate accounting experience (1-3 years in mid to large size public accounting firms or corporate accounting experience in industry with company revenue of > $200M).
  • Ability to work within a high velocity, autonomous and demanding culture.
  • Solid oral and written communication, technological and analytical skills.
  • Understanding and proficiency with account reconciliations, the month end closing process, cost accounting, maintaining a GL, and budgets.

  • Proficient in NetSuite.


Education:



  • BA/BS in Accounting.
