Sr. Director, Fraud Risk Strategies - Analytics

Overall Purpose

This role is accountable to build, manage and lead a team who will develop and perpetually evolve the rules, application of both internally and externally develop fraud risk models with the associated outcomes as it applies to decisions rendered to optimize the balance of risk, expense and experience while using the payment network in a variety of operating environments. This work must be done directly or in partnership with financial institutions in decisioning fraud risk.

Essential Functions

  • Develop the operating protocols under which a team of fraud analysts will assess, recommend and modify the application of scores and rules to deliver the optimal balance of risk, expense and experience for clients, consumers and partners in the network.
  • Provide effective leadership in developing highly engaged, high performance teams.
  • Lead the creation, implementation and appropriate usage of data driven insights for constant monitoring of effectiveness, efficiency and opportunities in the application of scores, rules and logic in the execution of managing fraud risk.
  • Deliver consistent communications to internal and external stakeholders regarding emerging risks, observed trends and related opportunities.
  • Interact, and influence based on data driven analysis, with senior executives both internal to the company and those of the participating financial institutions.
  • Manage a compliant change management process for fraud risk logic to ensure updates are executed without error, and audit records are maintained.
  • Manage multiple vendor relationships, ensuring business objectives are met, including compliance with info security, operational risk and business continuity standards.
  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrate progressive experience in fraud risk management.
  • SQL/SAS competencies or comparable data analytics skills
  • Proven track record of converting concepts to analysis to cases for change
  • Exceptional executive presence, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with digital banking, payments and/or payment networks
  • Experience with financial institutions in the area of fraud risk management
  • Background and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert in several internal systems, data and practices as well as industry fraud trends.
  • SAS/SQL or comparable analytic coding certification
  • Experience with two or more financial institutions in the area of fraud risk management
  • Experience in both consumer and commercial banking applications
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $210,000 - $225,000.

New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $225,000 - $250,000.
