This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act,i8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Controls Engineer will have responsibility for the design, integration, and test of data acquisition systems associated with gas turbine engines and components. The engineer will be implementing control theory and control systems software for test equipment and rigs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Applies knowledge of electronic control systems to engine and engine component tests.
  • Designs and assists in the development of new electro-mechanical systems and prototypes.
  • Responsible for interpreting requirements, building data acquisition and control architectures, developing LabVIEW VI and control software, supporting testing and validation of products and prototypes.
  • Create, test, and validate the LabVIEW based control and VI for the command and control center.
  • Support the design and development of the test instrumentation, integration, and data acquisition systems.
  • Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with control system software design and development.
  • Engine/Component test support is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in integrating automated systems, actuators, valves, etc.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering approach to manage production or development programs.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a testing environment to develop control systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic small-company environment.
  • Ability to engage industry experts, apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas or experts to own area of expertise.
  • Ability to capture requirements from customers and stakeholders and effectively estimate, communicate, and track integrated product team progress.
  • Ability to collaborate with program managers, customers, and team members to assist in developing products that meet requirements.
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

None.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited school.
  • 5+ years experience in control system software design and development in gas turbomachinery or related industry.
  • LabVIEW programming experience is required.
  • Experience with data acquisition and control.
  • Experience in developing test cases and test procedures.
