Evaluate and review inspection results, process any changes needed, answer inquiries on the status of inspections, risk eligibility and underwriting policies and procedures, review underwriting decisions and suggest process improvements. Responsible for operating within given authority limits. Set requirements when necessary, communicate requirements to the agent/insured and follow up for adequate documentation for proof of compliance. Create cancellation notices within the legal timeframe if proof of compliance is not received. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.



  • Review individual new business and renewal property inspections to identify underwriting hazards.
  • Process necessary changes on the policy as a result of the inspection and communicate changes to the agent along with the adjusted premium.
  • Execute underwriting policy and procedure changes as outlined in the inspection workflow.
  • Obtain and analyze inspection information from vendor to ensure quality and accuracy of decisions.
  • Utilize underwriting authority to assess inspection reports.
  • Follow up with agents to obtain the necessary documentation to satisfy requirements for compliance purposes.
  • Take appropriate action on accounts when proof of compliance is not received.
  • Collaborate with the team to contribute to a continuous improvement environment.


Requirements and Qualifications:



  • Intermediate computer skills including: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and empathetically (both oral and written).
  • Customer focused, collaborative, and a team player.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of processing center and insurance experience preferred.



The expected starting salary range for this role is$41,000 - $56,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
