This is a third shift position from the hours of11PM - 7:30AM.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manage the tactical performance of the department (Holds, PM completion, scheduling, training, UPS, etc.) Communicate issues with the supervisor. Able to utilize TPM, Focused Problem Solving and NCE systems to facilitate results of the department/Factory objectives & goals.

The Working Lead (or Shift Team Coordinator), under the direction of the Factory Engineer or designee, will provide for the operation, care and maintenance of all steam, electrical, refrigeration and mechanical equipment in the plant. In addition to the basic responsibilities of a Watch Engineer, the Working Lead will perform organizational, communication, and leadership tasks as outlined below in the primary responsibilities.

Employee shall follow Modesto factory quality, safety, & environmental objectives & targets, follow the plant safety rules, report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tactical Floor Support

    • Provides maintenance to all plant processing and packaging equipment, plant utilities, and building and grounds, which include boilers, refrigeration, coolers, HVAC, air compressors, fire suppression system, electrical/pneumatic controls and switch gear, water system and sewer, vehicles and fork lifts.
    • Communication and coordination on shift (Crewing and Call-Offs/Coverage)
    • Facilitate problem Solving/Root cause analysis
    • Escalate issues of Safety, Quality, and Productivity to Supervisors
    • Work with Planner/Tech Stores for job planning and coordinating parts (kitting)

TPM Autonomy Journey

    • Attend and be an active participant in maintenance SHOs/DORs/WERs/MERs. This includes receiving information (downtime, safety, quality, etc.) from the oncoming shift and passing information to the outgoing shift
    • Coach Work order management, use of 5W+1H for notifications, part number and order placement, adherence to PM completion, Prometheus usage, Poka usage, 5S, Tagging, SHOs
    • Lead or coach maintenance mechanics and production supervisors as issues or concerns arise
    • Ensure all data collection required within the shift is completed with proper communication of any deviations from standard. This includes logs, charts, action lists/boards
    • Ownership of Integrated Work Groups (IWG) capabilities and training.
    • Manage the skills of the technicians to ensure effective plan completion.
    • Properly manage breakdown (including requesting and managing services) to ensure effective recovery and good communication to stakeholders. Follow escalation process.
    • Complete work orders as necessary

Technical Competency

    • Work with mechanics/supervisors to complete all standards and coach all gaps building capability as needed
    • Electrical and PLC knowledge is preferred, competency development can be provided within a defined time frame. Failure to attain competency within defined time may result in bidding off.
    • Coach/Audit completed PM's, help coach and update task list on PM's and Bill of Materials (BOM).
    • Adherence to Risk Predictions plant and department policies and requirements (SAP, AMM, Permit to Work (PTW), etc.
    • Ownership of the Competency Matrix of your department to enable technical competencies within your team
    • Lead a Go-See-Think-Do.
    • Must be able to prioritize PMs for daily completion.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

General Expectations: Associate must come to work promptly and regularly, work under the direction of the Factory Engineer or designee, at times under stressful conditions, work within deadlines, and be able to work professionally with others at all times and in all situations. The associate will take ownership of their respective shift and perform the necessary functions and make decisions that ensure their shift and ultimately the department is successful.

    • In addition to the above, this mechanic will be required to assist in helping to maintain a safe and clean work area and be required to work assigned schedule. Based on performance there could be opportunities for further advancements at the discretion of the Maintenance Leadership Team.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

    • High school diploma or GED Equivalent required
    • Requires minimum 3-5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment
    • Good written and verbal communications

EXPERIENCE:

Prefer 5-7 years experience in the plant maintenance field. Requires working knowledge of each of the following: boilers, air compressors, refrigeration, plumbing, welding, machining, carpentry, electrical/electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, heating, cooling, packaging and manufacturing equipment

SKILLS:

    • Analytical and Problem Solving, Communication, Leadership, Teamwork
    • Follow all Nestle-Modesto Safety & Quality rules, regulations, and policies, fully participate in all Safety & Quality programs, and report incidents, risks & unsafe conditions immediately.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with groups or employees of the organization in a constructive and professional manner.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

The approximate hourly pay for this position is $38.98 to $40.73. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
