The Position

Department Summary

The Physiological Chemistry Department uses biochemical, biophysical, and genetic approaches to uncover intracellular signaling pathways that are important for innate immunity but dysregulated in inflammatory diseases.

This internship position is located on Genentech's South San Francisco, onsite

The Opportunity

  • Transduce mammalian cells with an ORF library in a screen for inhibitors and/or regulators of an important innate immune pathway.

  • Determine the targets of screen "hits" using biochemical and proteomic methods.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education:

  • - Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)

  • Molecular biology/ Cell biology/Biochemistry Degree or a related field

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, PCR, immunoprecipitations, and western blotting.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $41-$45 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
