  • Wonderful opportunity to join our growing orthopedic team!
  • Monday through Friday working primarily at the West Bloomfield, Detroit, and Plymouth locations.
  • The selected APP would be split between the operating room as a first assist as well as having their own independent or side-by-side clinic.
  • In the clinic setting, the APP would decompress the physician clinics of preoperative and postoperative patients, management of nonoperative spine visits, and increase surgical referrals.
  • The APP will also allow for increased patient access, specifically during times of more urgent acuity.
  • The versatility of the APP position would also allow for coverage during physician absence or if needed for patient access.
  • Seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with at least 1 year of dedicated orthopedic experience, preferably in ortho spine or neurosurgical spine.
  • Preference would be exposure as a first assist in the operating room.
  • Previous experience in the ambulatory clinic setting is also preferred.
  • Will need to be comfortable working with residents and other APPs.
  • No inpatient care for this position. No weekend or call.
  • The Surgical PA will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • The Surgical PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first-line provider to patients and their families.
  • Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
  • Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment programs.
  • Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other medical care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
  • First or second assist in surgical cases.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program -OR- Master's degree in nursing.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)-OR- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse

Current ACLS or BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
