$27.70 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Sarno Landfill. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled technical work in directing the day-to-day activities of the County's Solid Waste landfill and/or transfer station operations. Supervision is given to technical, crafts and trades, and service maintenance staff.

REQUIREMENTS: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in Solid Waste operations PLUS two (2) years in Landfill and/or Transfer Station operations, including one (1) year in a lead worker or supervisory capacity. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the non-landfill and/or transfer station and non-supervisory experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess a current State of Florida Landfill Operator certification PLUS a current State of Florida Transfer Station Operator certification and maintain both certifications during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
