Student Liaison MEP

Our program provides high-quality supplemental academic and support services for migratory children/youth ages 3-21 who reside throughout Massachusetts. Our Ready for Kindergarten Program sends bilingual, experienced educators to model age-appropriate kindergarten preparedness activities to migratory children ages 3-5 and their caregiver(s), typically in their home or at a local library.

Title: MEP Student Liaison

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Migrant Programming and Partnership Manager

Purpose: The MEP Student Liaison's primary role is to help support the migratory student in their learning, by establishing a one-on-one connection with each student assigned to them. They will communicate regularly in relation to academic support (direct and indirect) and general academic progress, but not serve as an additional content-area teacher. They will also serve as a point of contact for the student between their school, family and MMEP staff. This position will work between 1-8 hours a week outside of the official school day. The MMEP Student Liaison are not required to be licensed teachers, though they should be a school employee who is in the building and in contact with the students on a regular basis.

Essential Functions:

• Establish and maintain a positive connection with assigned students

• Act as a liaison between pertinent school staff (such as teachers and guidance counselors) and MEP staff, ensuring effective and efficient communication, especially to share information about school services and programs with families and students.

• Gather and share student information to aid in service planning and assignment as well as logistics and attendance

• Communicate regularly with their supervisor and the MMEP Regional Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• One year of working in a school-based environment

• Currently work in the school(s) where migratory students attend

• Bilingual in English and Spanish

• Are able to pass a Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) screening and a national SAFIS record check based on fingerprints

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

• DESE/DEEC Certification

Physical Demands:

• Ability to multi-task and respond to plan alterations with a positive mindset

• Must be able to communicate and converse effectively with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures in Spanish

Work Conditions:

• Employees expected to follow CES Workplace Safety Standards and required COVID-19 prevention and mitigation protocols. Expectations require wearing a mask, using gloves when cleaning, attention to social distancing guidelines, and complying with hygiene standards

Terms of Employment:

• Part-time; hours 1-8 hours a week outside of the contracted school day

• $31/hour
