Overall Purpose:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist provides technical and regulatory complianceexpertise and support for all business lines. Internal direct support customers include Operational Services teams and related functions. Supports industrial hygiene, environmental, health & safety complianceactivities through directparticipation in audits, studies, investigations, and reports. Responsible for maintenance and administration of select Company programs, and management of internal and external resources allocated toEnvironmental, Health and Safety (EHS).

Location: Hybrid (see below), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Woods Run Complex or other locations as required.

Responsibilities:



  • Support DLC efforts to continuously improve its safety culture by participating in activities and on cross-functional teams.
  • Support EHS Managers in achieving overall regulatory complianceof Company activities. Stays current on all newand proposed federal and state regulations. Writes and revises company procedures asassigned to comply with regulations.
  • Responsible for supporting EHS compliance by conducting fieldaudits, as required; and to ensure that Company policies and procedures are beingfollowed.
  • Design programs and procedures that support and drive the enterprise-wide EHS management system.
  • Create and test new methods / procedures that allow for a user-friendly application resulting in safeguard assurance.
  • Work closely with the UTT and Environmental teams to create management systems that are sustainable and streamlined.
  • Provide support for development and revisions of all safety standards and workstream content.
  • Assist in documenting, standardizing and sustaining internal EHS processes
  • Lead and support EHS project initiatives as assigned.
  • Investigate incidents. Identify root causes of issues and developcorrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Write reports detailing investigation andrecommend preventive measures.
  • Assist in maintaining incident database, producing reports, analyzing trends, and responding to inquiries about company performance, including OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Design, manage, and conduct industrial hygiene field activities related to workerexposures, including, but not limited to, air and noise sampling, area noise, fit testing, asbestos,lead wipe surveys, IAQ investigations, and heat stress as appropriate.
  • Complete associated reports to include evaluation and prioritization of risk and develop and assist with implementing corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Prepare and conduct EHS training sessions (live and virtual) as needed to support. Companypolicies and procedures, including preparing of training materials.
  • Will be on call as necessary for emergency call out rotation.(Storm response and environmental spills).



Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Occupational Safety, or other relevant discipline required.
  • Seven(7+) or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Industry certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), preferred.



Skills/Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:



  • Strong Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with common hazard and exposure assessment methods, including industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring.
  • Ability to analyze and develop strategies to efficiently schedule and manage projects.
  • Ability to become proficient in environmental requirements, IH and safety policies & procedures as they apply to the Company.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to present in a professional manner and represent the company image.
  • Be able to acquire and maintain certifications to support job functions.

Scope:

Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs, and reporting to assist operational leaders across all business lines in meeting their EHS responsibilities. Typically, accountable for managing one's own time and workflow. Responsibilities are generally tactical in nature and work is typically of moderate to complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous experience to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently most of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently.

Decision Impact:

Problems and issues faced are vague but may be recognizable based on experience. Accountable for some direct level of reasoning and decision making in straightforward situations based on precedents.

Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of four days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles:

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company. Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service, or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.

Data Governance:

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities, and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
