Job Summary

We seek a highly skilled Performance/Organizational Psychology Expert to join our team to support and elevate mid-level and senior leaders. This role is pivotal in enhancing the mental agility, motivation, and leadership effectiveness of our workforce. The purpose of this role is to increase overall productivity, personal/system resilience, and satisfaction. You will help develop and deliver programs tailored to optimize leadership capabilities, enabling our leaders to drive results, foster innovation, and cultivate a culture of learning and improvement.

The ideal candidate will act as a coach and consultant. You will have a deep understanding of organizational behavior, performance science, and leadership coaching. You must have a passion for developing workplace culture and practical experience working with professionals from the frontline to senior leadership through a consultative approach.

You will be joining a team of internal specialists that shape behaviors, reduce errors, and reduce waste to improve outcomes. Our team leverages systems thinking, psychology, behavioral economics, worker engagement, process improvement, and coaching to identify opportunities and works with leadership to create and execute enhancement strategies.

Level of position will be determined by applicable skills/experience.

Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., coaches, managers, front-line workers, leadership, development teams, and outside consultants) to create a supportive, holistic performance improvement, and growth-oriented learning organization.

  • Champion a culture where employees feel fully empowered to speak up, share ideas, and take interpersonal risks.

  • Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, training on leadership effectiveness, organization psychology, and Human and Organizational Performance, psychological safety, stress management, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.

  • Train, coach, and facilitate problem solving, goal-setting, vision casting, visualization, performance development, and how to productively respond to failure.

  • Facilitate collaborative learning discussions at all levels in the organization.

  • Stay updated on current research in performance psychology, leadership, and organizational behavior, applying new insights to coaching methods.

  • Develop your knowledge of and integrate Human and Organizational Performance into your efforts to reduce human error and increase system/human interface resilience.

  • The 5 Principles of Human and Organizational Performance:

  • Error is normal - people are fallible and even our best make mistakes

  • Error-likely situations are predictable and manageable- Safety & Resilience are not the absence of events. Resilience/safety are the presence of defenses.

  • Context influences behavior - the environment in which work occurs drives workers' behaviors and actions.

  • Blame fixes nothing. Only learning yields improvement - We can either learn and improve or blame and punish - but we can't do both.

  • Our Response to failure matters- We can either get even or get better. Learning is a deliberate improvement strategy

  • Develop your knowledge of and integrate Lean process improvement principles into your efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Undergraduate in Psychology or related field. A Master's degree in Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field with a focus on performance psychology or leadership development is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience coaching and training leaders/workers in high-performance settings, with similar organizations preferred.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proficient in leadership coaching methodologies and performance enhancement techniques.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills with the ability to teach, inspire, and influence.

  • Strong knowledge of organizational and performance psychology, such as emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and resilience training.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Advanced Degree in related fields of study.

  • 3 or more years of Human and Organizational Performance experience

  • Power generation or related field experience.

  • Experience working as an internal or external consultant.

  • Certification: Coaching certifications (ICF or equivalent) a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (depending on your home/work location):

Percent of time: 10-50%

Overnight required: 10-25%
