Summary: The Biomedical Engineer will design and conduct all aspects of research and provide scientific input into the research process in the field of low-level blast environment characterization. Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Participate in all aspects of research to include study design and overseeing, collecting, managing, processing, analyzing, and reporting data.
- Apply excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Approach novel analytical problems with effective and appropriate solutions.
- Prepare briefings, technical reports, and manuscripts for publication in professional journals.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work is performed primarily in a clinical setting.
- Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
- Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field, or relevant work experience.
- Advanced programming skills in SAS, MATLAB, C, C+, C++, Java, VBA.
- US Citizen - Must be able to obtain and maintain up to a Secret Clearance.
- Travel to various research sites within and outside of the United States. Valid passport required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Military experience is a plus.
- Experience in a blast research setting actively involved in study design, or equivalent experience a plus.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize, problem-solve, and coordinate daily activities to support effective improvement in individual patients.
- Have strong leadership/management skills and be responsible for directing and guiding research staff and study participants.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and ability to use basic office automation and information management equipment and programs (i.e., word processing, database management, email, etc.).
- Communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner with research staff and study participants.
