POSITION SUMMARY:

Set up, trouble-shoot problems, change and adjust tooling and machines to meet blue print specifications, production and quality standards and to assure safe operations. Train other employees to operate machine correctly and safely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Work without direct supervision but perform as a team member in order to respond to other employees and supervisor's requests and assist other employees as needed.
  • Handle all materials and tools and have operating knowledge of all machines. Employee must be able to perform preventive maintenance, set up and make changes adjustments to tooling and machines plant- wide to assure the capability of meeting production and quality standards and operate safely.
  • Identify problems and apply effective problem - solving skills and mechanical ability to take corrective action.
  • Operate on a production line as needed
  • Use Lean principles, Quick Change Technology, Total Productive Maintenance, Cell Design, and 5S as a tool to help our plant run more efficiently.
  • Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
  • Overtime as required/requested.



ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Set up, change and adjust tooling and machines on all lines in the plant to run different part numbers and correct production or quality problems to meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Trouble - shoot problems and perform minor repairs on all machines in the plant and assist other Setup, Machine Operators, Welders, Production Leaders, Engineers and quality personnel with trouble - shooting and correcting problems as needed.
  • Log changes in tooling and machines into SPC computer system or chart.
  • Train workforce on preventive maintenance and proper use of machines on all lines.
  • Drive forklift to transport and load fixtures, move machinery, etc.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Knowledge and ability to operate all machines on all lines.
  • Ability to set up and adjust all tooling and functions of all machines to make changes and adjustments to meet specifications and quality standards of parts.
  • Mechanical and Electronic skills
  • Good math skills
  • Knowledge and application of SPC, visual quality inspection and ability to use and read calipers and gauges at all machines and work stations on each line
  • Ability to work on own without direction supervision but able to respond to directions and job assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively to Machine Operators, Team Leaders, Production Leaders, Engineering Maintenance, Quality, etc.
  • Ability to trouble - shoot machine and tooling problems and take corrective action
  • Flexibility to work long hours or different work schedules and to respond problems, changes and job assignments
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other employees
  • Ability to read, write and understand work orders, technical documentation and diagrams, directions and safety regulations


  • Employee must possess high school diploma or GED, must demonstrate mechanical skills, and sufficient ability to read, write and communicate to accurately complete production, SPC and other paper work and to work effectively with other employees.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be developed to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The team member is regularly required to stand for 8-12 hours during a normal shift. The team member frequently is required to walk 10-15 feet, multiple times per normal shift. The team member must frequently lift, rotate, clamp and/or move up to 50 pounds multiple times per day within the normal shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color-coding distinction, close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or air borne particles and operates in extreme heat or cool climate conditions. The team members are occasionally exposed to vibration. Team members are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment to assist in promoting a safe work environment. Team members perform reactive maintenance to facility property and equipment and preventive maintenance as availability permits. Team members will also perform other essential duties as assigned.

  • Calipers and Gauges: Flare Depth, Ring Spherical, Final
  • Safety: Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes, Earplugs, Gloves
