InterMetro Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for our manufacturing facility located in Wilkes Barre, PA. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager drives successful development, execution, sustainment and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing Engineering Department's main business objectives, Plant Performance Excellence Program, and Metro strategic objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:



  1. Provides direction and management of the technical resources in the manufacturing facility: Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians
  2. Works closely with all parts of the organization including Safety, Quality, Finance, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing to install and manage manufacturing processes that fulfill strategic product offerings assigned to the facility.
  3. Manages WMF New Product Development Gate Process from conception to product launch.
  4. Serves as Project Leader for Plant capital improvements
  5. Identifies opportunities and implements changes to improve products, streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance safety & quality by using knowledge of fabrication and finishing processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, safety requirements, quality control standards, product design, materials, and components.
  6. Leads technical team members to, and participates in, troubleshooting new or existing product deficiencies involving designs, materials or processes, root cause analysis, review of product designs for manufacturability and BOM accuracy, and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  7. Provides technical expertise and support to manufacturing, performs system analysis & technology design and incorporates new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  8. Implements and sustains Performance Excellence throughout the Plant.
  9. Determines and drives key actions to establish a culture of continuous improvement to accomplishment optimum performance, meeting customer expectations and operational objectives regarding Safety, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost.
  10. Fiscal - Responsibility and accountability for planning, monitoring and managing departmental budget.
  11. Supervisory - Supervises the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training, and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management Science, or similar discipline required
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience required
  • Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Performance Excellence experience preferred
  • Prior working knowledge of CAD/CAM desirable
  • Excellent mathematical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage resources within the framework of short- and long-range budget plans and other resources.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to develop solutions using substantial creativity, resourcefulness, innovation, negotiation, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to manage projects of a complex nature and/or multiple projects
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
