JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Take personal ownership to work safely each and everyday
  • Actively engage in theplant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned.
  • Follows and supports the company waste management program - separate all recyclable material and discard waste into the appropriate containers to ensure sustainability efforts maximized
  • Actively engages and supports driving safety initiatives complyingwith all plant safety regulations.
  • Comply with all plant rules and corporate policies regarding business conduct
  • Understands the critical nature of personal leadership by example and uses his/her own personal level of high engagement to encourage others.
  • Supports, understands, and identifies primary root cause for most accidents, seeks to identify and understand the impact of individual's personal behavior on safety, and through partnerships with teams supports risk identification and mitigation methods.
  • Demostrates a willingness to train others in specific safety-related tasks.
  • Understand and ensures compliance with our Lock/Tag/Try system and has respect for the potential hazards within the manufacturing operation.
  • Intermediate computer literacy - email, spreadsheets, Word, Aspen-Tech, SAP, Talent Center, and Cority database management.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to deliver oral and written communication: Daily huddles, Employee Meetings, etc.
  • Responsible for managing safety & environmental inspections as required.
  • Maintains the floor dry stations and environmental waste outlets.
  • Act as a guide and safety trainer for outside contractors, new hires, and visitors.
  • Routinely perform tasks recommended through Safety/Environmental Card Program.
  • Data entry for Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) observations and cards
  • Restock Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stations and maintain accurate min/max inventory levels on PPE stock.
  • Participates in and leads safety and housekeeping programs.
  • Is proactive in leading the Production team by example in all aspects of Safety.
  • Follows all environmental compliance polices & programs.
  • Leads and participates in Focused Improvement (FI) project teams bringing them successful completion as assigned.
  • Leads and maintains a good working relationship with all departments and teams.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Regular Attendance on site and the ability to rotate varying shifts.
  • All other duties as assigned or needed.

The employee should hold the following abilities:



  • Able to think under pressure, make quick decisions, and act as a decision maker in the absence of the E&S Leader
  • Ability to work well in a team or alone
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Attention to detail
  • Assess and only operate equipment when all guarding and safety devices are in proper working order
  • Must understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group
  • Must perform basic mathematical calculations



COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES

The employee must be able to:



  • Log onto a computer and navigate via keyboard to access paycheck/benefits enrollment information and accomplish required online training routinely
  • May be required to log into and navigate production monitoring systems such as SAP for work notifications, quality and production tracking, etc.



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE



  • Two-year degree or two years experience in EHS or leading an EHS or TPM team; the ideal candidate will have both
  • For current OC employees, you must have a demonstrated commitment to EHS. This includes completion of all annual safety VIP tasks for the past full calendar year
  • Some manufacturing and leadership experience is preferred
  • Must be able to learn and execute the responsibilities of this position



ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Wear PPE (long-sleeve 100% cotton shirt, long 100% cotton pants, steel or composite toe safety boot [above the ankle height], gloves of varying materials and styles, a hard hat/bump cap, hearing protective devices, safety glasses/goggles, face shields, respirator, and any other task-specific PPE required), for up to 12 hours straight
  • Ability to stand for 12 hours straight
  • Able to climb and descend stairs or fixed ladders multiple times for up to 2 hours total per day
  • Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for 12 hours
  • Must be able to squat, bend, torque at the waist and knees freely
  • Exposure to temperature extremes and wet weather conditions
  • Exposure to noise levels that may be in excess of 85 dBA
  • Work in a dusty environment
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or control
