Postdoctoral Fellow, Early Discovery Biochemistry, Kirchhofer

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the Department of Early Discovery Biochemistry at Genentech. The postdoctoral candidate will work with different peptide display methods (phage, mRNA) using macrocyclic and cystine-knot peptide libraries to identify peptides that modify the function/properties of therapeutically relevant protein targets. The postdoctoral work will utilize biochemical, biophysical and structural biology approaches to elucidate the molecular mechanism of peptide activity. The individual will work independently in a team-oriented environment that promotes collaborations within the postdoc community at Genentech and with scientists across other different departments.

Who You Are:

A Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology or related discipline and a proven record of productivity in their graduate career as demonstrated by

first-author publications.

• Strong experience in molecular biology

• Expertise in engineering, expressing and purifying proteins

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with directed evolution (yeast, phage, mRNA display, etc.) is preferred

• Experience with peptide chemistry is a plus

• Proficiency in surface plasmon resonance or biolayer interferometry

• Proficient in structural biology (Crystallography and or cryo-EM) is a plus

• Experience with tissue culture, cell-based assays is preferred.

• Strong analytical, collaborative, communication and organizational skills

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco California is $92,500 to $98,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
