Overview

The High Value Payments Team is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to work on a complex, mission-critical payments system. The ideal professional will have extensive experience with designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting distributed systems written in Java. The team's payments platform is currently a combination of Spring Boot applications and classic JEE applications, hosted on-premises via OpenShift and other legacy managed services. We plan to upgrade and modernize this platform and need people eager to dive in and get their hands dirty. This is a good opportunity for somebody who wants meaningful hands-on experience transforming a critical high-volume application.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver state of the art solutions and be a hands-on technologist. Lead by example through the quality of your technical deliverable

  • Maintain hygiene, risk, control, and stability at the core of every deliver

  • Manage the software development life cycle (SDLC) of software components all the way to production, including helping support the application to resolve production issues with appropriate triaging

  • Collaborate, maintain clear and open communication with the team, and share experience with entire Engineering organization

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide insight

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, mentorship, and problem-solving skills; creatively solve complex problems and take ownership of the solution until its completion

Skills You'll Need

  • Extensive hands-on development experience with Java/JEE-based Enterprise Applications technologies (e.g. EJB, Java Message Service (JMS), Kafka, Spring Boot)

  • Experience in design/development of scalable, available, resilient, and observable large scale distributed banking applications

  • Experience with open-source technologies, framework, platforms, and tools, most notably Spring Boot

  • Experience with web services (e.g. SOAP, REST) and database technologies (e.g. Structured Query Language (SQL), Oracle, MongoDB

  • Experience thoroughly testing software applications via unit, integration, end-to-end, load testing, and ability to discuss when and where to use each of these

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Experience migrating applications from on-prem to cloud (we use GCP, but any cloud deployment experience is desirable)

  • Domain experience with payments, banking, finance, or in another highly regulated environment is a plus

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, mentorship, and problem-solving skills; creatively solve complex problems and take ownership of the solution until its completion

  • Working knowledge Jenkins, SonarQube, git, and containerization using OpenShift or Kubernetes

  • Bachelor's degree in equivalent field

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $125,000 to $203,000.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
