Overview

Sierra Lobo, Offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Full Life Cycle Systems Engineering for Low Production of Aerospace Systems, and Development of Advanced Technologies. We develope products related to Cryogenic Infrastructure, Cryogenic Fluid Management Systems, Optomechanical Systems, electrical and mechanical GSE, and flight electronics. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and many aerospace primes.

Space Flight Systems Development and Operations Contract (SpaceDOC III) contract located at NASA's Glenn Research Center.

Responsibilities

The S&MA, reports to the PM with direct report to SLI's Corporate Safety & Mission Assurance Director and authority to stop work and report quality or safety concerns directly to SLI Corporate. Coordinates with the DPM to provide quality, safety, and product assurance personnel within the departments to support projects; oversees those personnel. The S&PA reviews space flight hardware (SFHW) product outputs and is responsible for internal auditing of product and processes, workplace safety, and safety training. Monitors compliance with requirements/processes and audits for non-conforming products/engineering change processes. The S&MA oversees administration and safekeeping of quality records; monitors execution of activities in our Safety and Health Plan; and ensures compliance with safety engineering principles. Implements the preventive/corrective action program, oversees the continuous improvement program, and identifies safety and quality training needs. Develops quality program measurements and data metrics, acts as the Quality Assurance Engineering Manager when assigned to projects, and supervises Quality Control Engineers. The S&MA prepares Safety Data Packages for all flight HW, SW, and GSE project deliverables to the customer. The S&MA conducts the Configuration Verification Audits and brings industry best practices to CM and change management to be incorporated in to the SpaceDOC III QMS.



Qualifications

    Ability to manage, coordinate, and execute SMA Project Management Plans and technical support for NASA Space Flight Systems and Ground Support Equipment programs/projects.
  • Ability to manage, coordinate, and execute the preparation and delivery of Weekly Progress Reports, Monthly Technical Activity Reports.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate SMA personnel and resources to execute the preparation and delivery of Safety Engineering Analysis/Hazards Analyses, Quality Assurance/Engineering, Materials and Processes, Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) engineering and assurance processes, Software Product Assurance, Risk Management and Safety Regulatory/Program Reviews and Assessments.
  • Must have the ability to effectively work and communicate with the clients, management team, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, make decisions, function with all levels of the organization, interpret and apply safety requirements, develop safety procedures and write reports, conduct safety audits, and maintain corrective action database.
  • Must have the ability to develop and implement safety and quality programs and policies.
  • Must be able to operate specialized survey instruments for noise and airborne contaminants.
  • A working knowledge of local, state and federal government regulations is required.
  • Aerospace research/development and NASA experience is a plus.
  • A B.S. degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science is a plus.
  • Certifications as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with the American Board of Certified Safety Professionals and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with the American Industrial Hygiene Association are a plus.
  • Five years of management experience is preferred.
