GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a highly professional individual to lead fun, dynamic, and effective Group Fitness classes.

Under the direction of the Fitness Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for the delivery of adult fitness classes focusing on excellent customer service. The Group Exercise instructor will lead group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is responsible for upholding the Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Ys core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Safely leads energizing, fun, effective, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the Y mission and goals.
  2. Builds strong rapport and authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the Y, and actively participate in the Ys annual support campaign.
  3. Within the scope of practice, answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  4. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Report incidents and accident reports as necessary.
  5. Promotes YMCA programs and events while specifically encouraging regular participation in Group Fitness classes.
  6. Keeps accurate class attendance records. Also, responsible for proper use and care of the audio and studio equipment.
  7. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  1. High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least 18 years old.
  2. An educational background and/or experience in fitness or related field is required.
  3. A National certification OR completion of an internal YMCA training program is required before teaching.
  4. Ability to teach more than one format is preferred.
  5. Other certifications, depending on program being instructed, required at hire.


Pay Per Class Rate for Group Exercise Instructor 1: Per 60 Minute Class (Length of class may vary) $14.00 - $17.00
