ABOUT THE POSITION

Our Distribution Centers utilize state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team to provide Columbia Sportswear Company a competitive advantage in distribution. Teams are responsible for shipping millions of units of apparel, footwear, and equipment annually within the family of brands. Accurate order fulfillment and on-time shipments are the hallmarks of our facility.

As a Routing Coordinator, you are responsible for contributing to the smooth and on time distribution of Columbia Sportswear product by coordinating the efficient and accurate processing of all outbound shipments including verification, customer compliance, and by providing routing information to the Scheduling and Shipping Departments.

Total Rewards: This position offers competitive compensation of $21.50/hour to start and ongoing opportunities for Merit increases, up to $30.29/hour, Other rewards include:

SCHEDULE:

The schedule would be expected to work the following schedule:

Schedule 1: 8:00AM - 6:30PM Monday - Thursday

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Contribute to the smooth and on time distribution of Columbia Sportswear product by coordinating the efficient and accurate processing of all outbound shipments including verification, customer compliance, and by providing routing information to the Scheduling and Shipping Departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for ensuring all shipments requiring specific routing instructions follow customer's routing manual using phone, fax, emails, and customer's proprietary websites.
  • Organize information and communicate extensively with departmental peers, internal departments, and outside contacts as necessary. Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal / external customers and carriers.
  • Maintain constant communication between Traffic, Control Room and Shipping departments to ensure orders are timely and accurately delivered to customers.
  • Contact carriers to arrange pickups and verify appointments for all modes of transportation, including small package, LTL, and truckload shipments. Advise management and Account Services of any delays or scheduling issues.
  • Prepare bills of lading, carrier manifests, correspondence, packing slips and various reports. Coordinate the QC process in preparation of orders for shipment. Responsible for the accuracy and customer compliance of shipments
  • Answer questions from vendors, external customers and internal clients concerning their shipments and refer inquiries to others within the Traffic Department when appropriate.
  • File and maintain transportation records for easy retrieval.
  • Operate standard office machines freight carrier supplied and third-party tracking and shipping systems.
  • Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff, and other departments to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
  • Ability to cope with a stressful work environment and cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Ability to flex hours based on the needs of the business to include nights and weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

YOU ARE

  • Works under some supervision with general instructions provided for new assignments.
  • Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in their own work area by evaluating and selecting solutions from established operating procedures and/or analytical methods. Tasks require limited judgment.
  • Resolves most questions and problems and refers complex issues to senior personnel. Impact limited to quality and efficiency of own job.
  • There is a high level of viability with both internal and external partners and customers. Errors in judgement may have significant financial impacts.
  • The scope of job duties varies daily.

JOB CONDITIONS

  • Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priority projects.
  • Exposure to Distribution Center machinery/equipment such as conveyor belts, forklifts and loading docks.
  • Position requires frequent movement to all areas of distribution center and incumbent must be capable of managing telephone, radios, computer and verbal communication skills simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. required.
