Job Summary:
Plans, executes and leads projects to develop new processes and designs that expand Integer's capabilities to produce next-generation medical device technologies.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Adheres to Integer's Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements Provide technical ownership in development of new LASER equipment, tooling, and processes Apply an in-depth understanding of laser - material interactions/critical laser parameters inter relationships (e.g. focal length, numerical aperture, power density, spot size, pulse duration, frequency beam shaping) in complex technology development programs Works closely with an integrated team of scientists, engineers and technicians to translate device requirements and designs into functional prototypes Provide technical leadership in developing new concepts and novel technologies critical to organic growth Take responsibility in generating intellectual property/patent applications Builds relationships with external organizations to provide access to state-of-the-art process technologies. Produces prototypes to demonstrate feasibility of novel concepts Serves as subject matter expert (SME) to scale-up new process technologies Develops capital equipment requirements, creates specifications for new equipment, evaluates vendors/suppliers, makes procurement recommendations and manage equipment install and qualification processes Develops product and/or process documentation Prepares Engineering Reports documenting results, conclusions and follow the stage gate approach of technology development involving key stakeholders May supervise lower level Engineers, Designers and/or Technicians Performs other duties as required
Education & Experience:
Minimum Education: Degree in Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optics or related scientific/technical discipline Minimum Experience: 7+ years of experience, 4 years of hands-on work experience over a wide range of laser systems Preferred Experience: Medical device manufacturing environment. Subject matter expert (SME) in defining optical system configurations, selecting laser processing system hardware, and directing the use of LASER systems. Experience with complicated laser optics set up, validating laser stations (process validation) for novel welding processes. Working knowledge of Solid works, Minitab (DOE) weld fixture design and optical metrology. Hands on femto-second laser experience is a strong plus.

Ability to effectively work with coworkers and all levels of the organization. Proficient in spatial profiling / temporal profiling as well as strong understanding of laser welding technologies for welding, ablation, marking, and hole drilling. Specialized Knowledge: Computer skills as required by stated accountabilities. Prefer six-sigma certification as well as ability to plan and execute design of experiments (DOE). Understanding of laser system design, fixture design, automation including vision system integration. Knowledge and understanding of weldability of materials.
