Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for conducting assessments in the community for youth and adult consumers during 3rd shift hours (12am until 7:30am) who are experiencing a mental health or AODA crisis within the community and working to de-escalate and stabilize the consumer to reduce any danger to self or others. To evaluate consumers for possible Emergency Detention holds and determine through a psychosocial assessment whether the hold should be maintained due to the presence of risk factors that could result in the individual being dangerous to themselves or others.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. Conduct a psychosocial assessment of youth and adult patients based upon knowledge of the normal bio-psycho-social development of childhood and adulthood to evaluate dangerousness to self and others. E

2. Intervene in and manage the acute phase of mental health or AODA crisis within the community which could include police presence. De-escalate, stabilize, and resolve mental health crisis events. E

3. Effectively reduce any danger to self or others by utilizing therapeutic interventions and connecting the patient or family to appropriate community supports and services. E

4. Make recommendation to either proceed with, maintain or drop a Chapter 51 Emergency Detention hold based on results of psychiatric and psychosocial assessments. E

5. Consult and collaborate with the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Services, local hospitals, law enforcement, the CART Team, and other community stakeholders. Provide community education regarding crisis management and mental health services. E

6. Completes detailed clinical documentation of all work completed within this role. Demonstrates through documentation the results of assessments conducted, the rationale for proceeding with, maintaining or dropping an Emergency Detention hold, and a clear response plan to decrease the patient's likelihood of future need for emergency behavioral health services. E

7. Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E

8. Complete/prepare/collect and submit required items by due dates; to include, but not limited to progress notes, reports, etc. E

9. Establish and maintain good communication and cooperation with all stakeholders and other treatment providers. NE

10. Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E

11. Attend all meetings and professional development activities, as directed. NE

12. Perform other duties as assigned. NE

13. Be a team player. E

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to drive, stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, and walk. Infrequent lifting may be encountered.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in field and office environments, including frequent local travel. Flexible hours required as dictated by program needs.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Valid Wisconsin State licensure, free of limitations, must be certified or licensed to work as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT); Applicants with valid Wisconsin licensure as Advanced Practice Social Workers (APSW), Licensed Professional Counselors in Training (LPC-IT), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-IT) may be considered based on experience.

2. Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field required.

3. Professional Liability Insurance policy with a minimum coverage of $1,000,000 for individual claims and $1,000,000 for aggregated claims.

4. Availability to conduct in-person mobile assessments within the community between the hours of 12:00 AM and 7:30 AM.

5. Strong cultural competency and ability to provide services in an ethical, respectful, responsible manner.

6. Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals of all ages.

7. Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

8. Excellent communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.

9. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.

10. Bilingual (Spanish and English), oral and written, highly desirable.

11. Transportation in way of a reliable vehicle, valid Wisconsin Driver's license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.

12. Must be able to work flexible hours based on program needs.

13. Must complete and pass all background checks (including vaccination requirements).
