Title: Identity Management Directory Services Administrator

Clearance: Limited CBP BI required prior to start

Location: Remote

Overview:

The Identity Management Directory Services Administrator will provide advanced technical support and develop solutions to facilitate the efficient operation of DataPower, APIs, and message queuing systems within a large-scale, service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment. This role requires deep expertise in administration, troubleshooting, and deployment of middleware technologies, including DataPower and enterprise service buses (ESBs). The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external partners to design and implement integrations, support automated deployments, and manage secure communications through SSL certificates.

As part of the team, the administrator will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence through monitoring, logging, and debugging system issues. They will leverage their expertise in API management, multi-protocol gateways, and message transformation technologies to streamline services and improve application workflows for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Position Overview:

Seeking a Junior Identity Management Directory Services Administrator. The candidate will have 3 years of experience demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of key tasks on a large high visibility IT program. Responsible for assisting more senior positions and performing functional duties with oversight.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for administration of LDAP/Directory Services products in Identity and Access Management, such as but not limited to, Red Hat Directory Server, RadiantOne Identity Data Platform, and Shibboleth.
  • Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires practical experience and training. Work is performed under supervision.
  • Maintain a work collaboration site or sites in which on-boarding documentation shall be obtained (includes access to OIT CM tools of baseline code and product configuration).
  • Ongoing development support for new policy creation, and other COTS software configuration related to new customer requirements. This shall be an ongoing effort, as security policies, related technologies, and new credentialing rules evolve.
  • Support the review of existing processes and procedures and implement efficiency improvements to include automation of manual activities wherever possible.
  • Performs installations and configurations for LDAP/Directory Services products - Red Hat Directory Server, and RadiantOne Identity Data Platform.
  • Performs installations and configurations for the SSO product - Shibboleth.
  • Responsible for performing patching and system updates as necessary
  • Analyzes and resolves infrastructure issues between LDAP/Directory Services products and enterprise environments.
  • Interfaces with customers as needed to support onboarding activities ..
  • Use tools such as Splunk to perform auditing and logging with LDAP/Directory Services products.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and hands-on training to other team members.
  • Create and maintain documentation of all installations, upgrades, change requests, and anything related to LDAP/Directory Services in a team shared centralized store.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship
  • 0-3 years of experience and a B.S. degree.
    1. Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience
    2. BS Degree in Computer Science OR 2+ years of hands-on experience with administration of LDAP/Directory Services products.
  • Working knowledge of Identity and Access Management fundamentals.
  • Working experience with Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience with the following LDAP/Directory Services products: Red Hat Directory Server, RadiantOne Identity Data Platform.
  • Experience with and/or eagerness to learn the SSO product - Shibboleth.
  • Experience with and/or eagerness to work basic troubleshooting steps and end user support issues.
  • Willingness to support rotational on-call (after hours) with other staff members.
  • Experience with the Object-oriented programming (OOP) language - Java.
  • Working knowledge of SAML Authentication.
  • Knowledge of multiple tools sets, technologies, and implementation environments.
  • Working knowledge of Linux based systems and Cloud fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewalling.
  • Ability to self-manage assigned tasks and projects .
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the design and implementation of LDAP/Directory Services solutions and technical familiarity in the following areas is a plus:
    1. Shibboleth
    2. OKTA
    3. Apache HTTP server
    4. Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    5. Shell Scripting
    6. Bash Scripting
    7. Java Development/API's
    8. Tomcat
    9. SSL/PKI Infrastructure
    10. Automation tools (Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible)
