The Office Support Assistant IV (OSA) will assist the Department of Political Science & Philosophy and Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology. These departments are dynamic and aim to provide UMKC students with critical-thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

Job Description

The Office Support Assistant IV provides general administrative and office support to the Department of Political Science & Philosophy and Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. 'Support' includes a variety of responsibilities, such as assisting Department Chair(s), providing student support, aiding faculty, and assisting with HR/financial support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Office management, which includes answering questions via phone, email, and walk-ins; managing the copy machine and printers throughout department; ordering supplies; coordinating events; acting as the building liaison; preparing department promotional materials.
  • Assisting Department Chair(s) with day-to-day activities; helping prepare reports for departments that are requested by the Dean's office and/or other administrative offices.
  • Supporting students with student newsletters; scheduling courses; website maintenance; catalog maintenance; scheduling appointments; addressing student questions/concerns via campus resources.
  • Fulfilling research and teaching supply orders; providing reimbursement; course material preparation; full-time hiring visit coordination.
  • Assist with Human Resources (HR) activities such as part-time hiring paperwork and coordination; supervise work study students; work with Human Resources Business Partner.
  • Financial activities such as assist department chair with budget management; onecard(s), eProcurement, and work with the Accounts Payable Shared (APS) Services Center and Fiscal Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

  • Well organized, detail-oriented candidate.
  • Collaborative and supportive of faculty and chair's tasks.
  • Welcoming to students and community members.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$15.00- $19.00 per hour commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
