Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Programs Training Academy Instructor to work in our ATR Training department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our ATR facility with every Friday off.

You will develop and implement technical facility-specific training and qualification programs. You will report directly to the manager of the ATR Training department.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Develop learning goals, lesson plans, training support materials, evaluation standards, and written/oral examinations to ensure staff are qualified to perform their responsibilities in accordance with regulations and procedures. Design training to obtain high levels of proficiency and retention.
  • Review technical procedures, reports, proposals, and other appropriate documents to determine their impact on the training programs and to make recommendations for implementation or revision based on needs or problems observed during operational or training evolution's. Implement approved recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain examination question banks. Develop, schedule, administer, grade, and evaluate written, oral and tests as well as performance examinations (which may include those related to simulators).
  • Perform and evaluate classroom, on-the-job, and simulator training. Ensure assigned training programs follow the requirements of program documents, company procedures, training implementation matrices, and training program plans.
  • Participate in support activities as assigned, including serving on assessment teams, investigation teams, benchmarking teams, and collaborating with laboratory training organizations.
  • May coordinate activities to accomplish goals with other trainers.
  • Evaluate training programs to make sure that requirements are met and that the programs are vigorous and are accomplishing the goals established for delivery of training that prepares employees to perform their jobs. Conduct self-assessment activities required by company procedures, using results to improve the training programs. Track deficiencies and provide completion of actions that correct/reduce deficiencies. Document and implement required corrective measures if needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years, an advanced degree, or 8 years of relevant education/experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must meet the requirements of DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Qualification, and Training Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience consistent with the material being presented.
  • Instructors who are responsible for instruction on subjects such as TSRs, reactor operating principles and characteristics, and control manipulations for the ATR shall have received senior reactor operator (or equivalent) training.
  • Instructors who provide instruction on the reactor simulator to certified personnel shall hold or have held a senior reactor operator certification for a similar Category A reactor plant (or equivalent), or have been certified on the reactor facility simulator.
  • Instructors will have demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience and be qualified by the Training Manager (or equivalent) for the material being presented.


Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is $63,528 - $130,284 . At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
