Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. Electrical equipment upgrades, arc flash hazards analysis, low and medium voltage plant power distribution system design, motor control centers, drives, wiring diagrams, and related equipment for plant power are services in high demand from our clients. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a motivated engineer to begin their engineering career, do challenging and meaningful work, and protect the earth's resources at the same time.

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for building things, meeting new people, and desire to work with seasoned professionals who perform industrial, municipal, and other water/wastewater related work, with the potential to gain new knowledge, skills, and relationships in a collaborative, innovative and supportive environment.

This position will be based in either Honolulu or Maui but a hybrid home/office work schedule is allowed.

Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Provide design support and drafting for electrical and I&C disciplines, in a multi-discipline environment under the direction of experienced Electrical Designers and Professional Engineers.
  • Support conceptual through detailed design development, including: electrical single line drawings, schedules, plans, equipment layouts, schematics, control wiring diagrams, Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), specification and selection of equipment, and electrical system studies; development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D/BIM design approaches, bid package preparation, field investigations and support during construction, both in office and in field.
  • Support business opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.).
  • Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for plant and pump station power systems.
  • Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Collaborate with a national team of technical experts in the Electrical and I&C group.


Required Qualifications



  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0-2 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Familiarity with electrical power systems design and specification, which include service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, grounding, power distribution and standby power equipment, and associated systems studies and calculations.
  • Familiarity with the application of the National Electrical Code.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Able to multi-task, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.
  • Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working for government, municipal, and/or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in industrial power systems design, service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, emergency power and power distribution equipment.
  • Experience in the water and wastewater industry.
  • Experience in power system analysis and modelling software such as SKM and ETAP.


Salary: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $71,000 - $97,000
