POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Afognak Native Corporation is recruiting for two Apprentice positions. The Afognak Native Corporation Apprenticeship program provides eligible Afognak Shareholders with work experience and an opportunity to gain skills in career paths. The Apprentice position is a fixed-term position that typically extends for one calendar year. There is no guarantee of employment upon completion of the apprenticeship, however strong work performance can lead to additional opportunities. The Apprentice is expected to work a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule, preferably in an office location.

Applicants for the Apprentice position MUST be a voting Afognak Native Corporation Shareholder to qualify for an Apprenticeship position. Position(s) may be available in various Afognak and Alutiiq, LLC locations. Recent Apprentices have been placed in the following departments: Accounting, Information Technology, Operations and Maintenance (including Commercial Business), Human Resources, Lands, and Legal. There is some flexibility to design an Apprenticeship based on our organization's current needs and the interests of Shareholder applications.   • Follow a workplan designed by assigned supervisor.
  • Make progress on assigned project and work tasks.
  • Communicate with supervisor regularly on work progress and request assistance if needed.
  • Participate in required team or project meetings.
  • Follow company policies and complete assigned trainings in a timely manner.
  • Set priorities and self-motivate to achieve goals.
  • Participate in quarterly Shareholder Development programs.


Payrate:$20.00 to $24.00 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be a voting Shareholder of Afognak Native Corporation.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be mentored and coached to meet program goals.
  • Independent, able to focus on projects with little or no supervision and self-motivated.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer proficiency and understanding of computer technology and programs required, such as MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Ability to compose business correspondence and materials.
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to integrate easily and work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment, with ability to apply tact and diplomacy in work situations.
  • Commitment to learning and growing professionally.


Work Environment:

Afognak Native Corporation Offices: Indoor, controlled climate with little to no exposure to hazardous material. Danger Bay and Port Lions: Outdoor, uncontrolled climate with little to some exposure to hazardous materials.
