We have an immediate need in the Greenville, NC area for a Surveyorfor our Transportation division. The successful candidate will support our current staff while assisting in growing the Surveying and CEI practice to better service our clients statewide.

This role offers unlimited opportunities to maintain existing client relationships, broaden STV's service offerings geographically, be involved in major transportation projects, mentor junior staff, all while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities

Perform surveying activities on highway and bridge construction projects. More specifically:

  • Operate field survey equipment while performing more complex technical assignments related to highway route location surveys of projects in the field or office

  • Perform complex CADD and computer operations in the surveying and creation of plan sheets and survey data for transportation improvement projects including hydraulic surveys, complex horizontal alignments, setting of photogrammetric controls, property condemnations, and Global Positioning System (GPS) field work

  • Use some independent judgment applying standard civil engineering practices and procedures

  • Have your work reviewed by senior technicians/engineers who are a part of an engineering survey group

  • Supervise a survey team in moderately complex field operations

The employee will typically be assigned to NCDOT or other roadway and bridge construction projects. Daily travel to project site will be required. Candidates must work nights and weekends when required. Overnight travel is not expected but may be necessary on a limited basis.

Candidates must hold a hold a valid state driver's license and clean driving record andhave the ability to lift 50 pounds, traverse rough terrain, walk or stand for extended periods of time while performing manual tasks, and work outdoors during all types of weather.

Specific Requirements

Applicant must possess the following.

  • 5 years of surveying experience

  • NCDOT construction layout experience

  • CADD and computer equipment experience in the design of highways (topographic features, hydrographic information, utility locations, property boundaries, elevations etc.), digital terrain model (DTM) files, and preparation of preliminary/final versions of property condemnation maps

  • Experience planning, directing, overseeing, and leading the work of junior technicians in primarily survey field and some office work

  • Field survey equipment experience

  • Experience developing maps/plans through CADD utilizing CADD software

  • Knowledge of standards, principles, and practices of surveying in North Carolina

Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Compensation Range:

$47,102.00 - $62,803.00
