You will work hand-in-hand with multi-disciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and medical staff, to ensure that CHS responds to urgent mental health needs, provides continuity of care, and offers appropriate mental health services to patients in the county jail system. Your expertise can be utilized to assess individuals with varying degrees of mental illness, psychosis/agitation, substance abuse, and potential risk of harm to themselves or others. We Require

  • Two years of behavioral health experience post master's degree

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited program and completion of clinical training hours necessary to achieve independent licensure

  • A valid, unrestricted license issued by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a:

    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR

    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), OR

    • Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC), OR

    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Job Contributions

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and medical staff

  • Coordinate regarding psychosocial treatment issues related to patient care

  • Present relevant findings that pertain to mental status and patient risk in an acute environment

  • Prepare comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, mental status exams, treatment plans, and other clinical reports

  • Complete all required mental health forms and documents in the patient's medical record

  • Provide individual treatment and crisis intervention services

  • Complete and coordinate Mental Health Petitions with community providers and testify in court as needed

  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational group treatment

  • Conduct short-term, solution-focused therapy with the use of treatment plans, goals, and objectives

  • Develop treatment plans for patients with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders

  • Maintain familiarity with mental health diagnoses that correspond to ICD-9DM and DSM-IV TR (DSM 5) manuals

  • Coordinate treatment with MSCO, courts, and community providers for continuity of care

  • Maintain patient confidentiality in the management of information and in accordance with HIPAA rules

  • Adhere to and model the code of ethics associated with clinical specialty, license, or certification

  • Meet regulatory, licensure, health assessment, and CPR requirements

Working Conditions

  • Must complete a CPR certification during new hire orientation

  • Must complete an MCSO-HR fingerprint background check

  • Must be able to work inside a jail environment, consisting of working in close proximity to inmates and other staff and being indoors in a confined area handling multiple or complicated tasks

  • Requires accuracy, decision-making, and concentration skills to be vigilant in a teamwork environment

  • Performs a high volume of work under short deadlines or with time pressures to complete frequently changing and unscheduled tasks
