Overall Purpose:
The Supervisor, Fabrication Shop is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the fabrication shop. Reporting to the Manager, Quality, Shops & Testing, the ideal candidate will have operations management experience, a technical background, and strong ability to develop cross functional relationships.
Location: Pittsburgh Pennsylvania at New Manchester Facility
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; specifying and ordering materials for projects; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Responsible for scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Provides data by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance, answering questions, and responding to requests.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by applying LEAN methodology, educating, and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues, identifying solutions; recommending action.
- Maintains working relationship with Union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Meets Shop operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies.
- Maintain all documentation related to the disposal of oil and gas equipment; PCB, non-PCB and SF6.
- Oversee the maintenance the company's transformer oil supply as well as the collection of scrap oil. Transformer oil will be handled according to EPA/DEP regulations to ensure proper disposal and documentation are followed.
- Arrange for the collection and disposal of scrap equipment from across the company, breakers, transformers, capacitors, and structural steel.
- Maintain qualifications in DOT Hazardous and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)training. These trainings are necessary for those responsible for signing Hazardous Waste Manifests.
- Be on call for various responsibilities including but limited to, supporting breakdowns/outages across the DLCO network, storm duty, off hour and weekend work.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is preferred, an Associate's degree and equivalent experience will be considered.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience required.
- Preferred experience: repairing and testing of electrical equipment, metal fabrication in a manufacturing environment, and/or industrial operations.
Skills/Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:
- Experience in the supervision, coaching and developing of a diverse represented work force.
- Ability to read and interpret engineer approved drawings/prints for various projects; structural, repair and alteration.
- Maintain a project schedule in order to provide on time delivery of various materials supporting capital projects as well as unplanned emergent work.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to lead and guide a team.

Scope
Primary focus is on day-to-day management of operational execution for areas managed. Trains and develops staff. Plans the workflow. Directs available resources to accomplish process improvement. Leads workflow changes and implementations for direct team.
Decision Impact
Problems and issues are undefined, and require detailed info gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand/resolve. Makes decisions that address workflow issues considering immediate impact on own function or work unit.
Physical Requirements:
Normal office environment, some travel to different company service locations. Must have the ability to participate in field visits to work sites with less the desirable conditions, including but not limited to climbing ladders, walking in wooded areas, or visiting hazardous locations Must be able to work extended hours in emergency situations.
Work Environment:
Position is consideredfully on-site, meaning this position will generally perform all duties at a company location and/or in the field. Reporting location may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Storm Roles

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
