About the Job

A Postdoctoral Associate position is immediately available in the Xie lab at the Center for Drug Design, College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will be working on a project focusing on targeted cancer therapy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
60% Cancer pharmacology/biology
Design and perform cell culture and cell-based assays, biochemical assays, various microscopy assays, or protein analysis to test new strategies for cancer therapy.

25% Animal experiments
Design and conduct experiments in rodent models to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cancer treatments.

10% Data management and presentation
Properly collect, interpret, manage, and present research data. Must be able to write manuscripts.

5% Lab duties
Perform assigned lab duties related to lab maintenance and operation.

Supervision:
This postdoc will report to Dr. Jiashu Xie.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences / Pharmacology / Molecular Biology or other related fields, with prior research experience in targeted cancer therapies, and the ability to write manuscripts.
* Must be willing to work with mice, rats, or other laboratory rodents.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Well versed in cell culture and various basic biology techniques including SDS-PAGE, western blot, PCR, and ELISA.
* Experience in laboratory rodents handling, drug administration, blood and tissues collection, preparation and analysis.
* Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge and research experience in membrane proteins/transporters or nanoparticle-/liposome-based drug delivery systems is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $56,484 - $57,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
