Job Summary
This post-doctoral (post-doc) position is funded by theCenter for Assured and Resilient Navigation in Advanced Transportation Systems ( CARNATIONS) project (Funding Source: US Department of Transportation). The post-doc researcher will work on devising new solutions to improving the resilience of Global Navigation Satellite Systems ( GNSS), especially in challenging environments where global positioning systems ( GPS) signals can be weak or disrupted. This is a highly competitive position that offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research with a talented team of researchers and industry partners.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:


  • Research and Development:


    • Conduct in-depth research on emerging cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities in smart transportation systems, including connected vehicles, intelligent traffic systems, and public transportation systems.
    • Develop advanced cybersecurity techniques, such as intrusion detection, anomaly detection, and secure communication protocols, to mitigate these threats.
    • Design and implement robust cybersecurity frameworks and architectures to enhance the security posture of smart transportation systems.




  • Experimentation and Validation:


    • Design and execute experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed cybersecurity solutions in simulated and real-world environments.
    • Analyze and interpret experimental results to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
    • Collaborate with industry partners to validate and refine cybersecurity solutions in practical settings.



  • Publication and Dissemination:


    • Author high-quality research papers and technical reports to disseminate findings at top-tier conferences and journals.
    • Present research results at academic conferences and industry forums.
    • Contribute to the development of intellectual property, such as patents and copyrights.



  • Collaboration and Mentoring:


    • Work closely with a team of researchers, engineers, and industry experts to foster a collaborative research environment.
    • Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the areas of cybersecurity and smart transportation systems.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Track record of publishing in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity, with a focus on network security, cryptography, or applied cryptography.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

    • Wireless communication protocols (e.g., IEEE 802.11, 5G)
    • Embedded systems and IoT security
    • Machine learning and artificial intelligence for cybersecurity




Preferred Qualifications
Good knowledge in:
1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning
2. Optimization theory
3. Network security
4. Global positioning systems
5. Edge Computing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB) and cybersecurity tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • A strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals.
