Position Highlights |
The Department of Geosciences seeks a postdoctoral researcher who will work as part of a team to conduct research on structural geology and tectonics. The fellowship offers a competitive salary. The postdoctoral fellow will focus on research while working closely with PI Dr. Jonny Wu. The primary role is to research Pacific and global plate tectonic reconstructions, geodynamic plate driving forces, and critical mineral systems at University of Arizona. Experience in synthesizing surface geological records for comparison to plate reconstructions and tomography is essential, especially for the North American Cordillera from Mesozoic to present. Background on numerical inverse methods, the plate modelling software GPlates and its accompanying python package, pyGPlates, and seismic tomography are assets. The postdoctoral fellow may mentor early career researchers in plate reconstructions and tectonic analysis. This fellowship also provides the possibility to collaborate with teams from other academic institutions, further expanding the scope and impact of their scientific contributions. The fellow is will actively participate in seminars and contribute to the broader intellectual community at the University of Arizona Department of Geosciences. Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
