In this role, the Cloud Enablement Senior Software Engineer is part of a team working to mature the enterprise automation, resiliency and cloud infrastructure that delivers reliable and scalable applications in a continuously-evolving business and technological environment according to the direction set by senior leadership. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Cloud Enablement team, the ideal candidate will deliver solutions against enterprise-level objectives, facilitating cloud capability enablement. You will work towards achieving Capital One's Cloud Enablement strategy, including setting direction for the optimal use of cloud technologies, providing innovative approaches to solving business needs, facilitating the adoption of a multi-cloud strategy, and advocating for the responsible management of cloud resources. You will communicate with senior managers and directors, mentor junior technical staff, and work with leading/cutting edge technology vendors in support of this strategy.

The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is responsible for enabling and evolving Capital One's foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience and availability.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on a high-performing, agile team of DevOps practitioners

  • Deliver solutions that facilitate the adoption of and migration to new Cloud technologies and tools

  • Evolve software implementation toward enterprise and divisional target architectures

  • Deliver cloud-native solutions in support of organizational objectives

  • Mitigate and resolve technology risks and issues as they arise

  • Mentor junior team members

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 3 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

  • At least 2 years of experience with Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

  • At least 2 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 6+ years of software development life cycle (SDLC) experience

  • 4+years of Linux and Windows server administration experience, including shell (Bash, PowerShell) script development and troubleshooting

  • 2+ years of experience with deployment/provisioning orchestration technologies (e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt)

  • 2+ years of Go or Python development experience

  • Certified AWS Solutions Architect Associate

  • 2+ years of experience with Agile-based projects using Scrum or Kanban techniques
